FIDO CLUB WINE TASTING I RESULTS

The Fido Club is having its first wine tasting get-together on Wednesday, December 10.

There is space for only 20 people at this event and it’s first-come, first served. Registration (with the form below) is necessary.

wine and headsThe concept is that each person will bring a bottle of locally available wine in the under 120+ peso range. We will have a formal (as formal as Fido gets…) tasting with rating sheets, etc. This is a quick and easy way to learn what’s available here, vino-wise, at least in the table-wine category. We will have a sign up below (when all of the people are signed up) to list the wine you will be bringing so that we do not have duplicates.

There will be a cost share, to cover the price of the food and utensils. This will be between 50 and 70p per person, probably closer to 50p. We will have appetizers, then soup and bread (minestrone soup with smoked bacon, and a pot of creamy lentil soup with chorizo provided by Safaree). You will bring your wine home with you if there is any left in the bottle. We will have on hand only plastic cups, so if you want a real wine glass, bring one.

If everyone arrives around 5:45 pm we can enjoy the lovely sunset at around 6:20. The condo is called Loma Blanca at 360 Pino Suarez #13 and Fca Rodriguez, 2 blocks up from the pier. Dave will be down by the locked gate to let everyone in and it’s very important that everyone is quiet in the stairwell (…neighbors….), there are 4 flights of stairs no elevator. Try to be on time so Dave doesn’t have to miss out on anything.

UPDATE:
The results are being revised and will be posted soon…
About 24 people sampled 15 wines which were accompanied by quite spectacular hors D’oevres and finished by two homemade soups. The 4th floor rooftop location in the middle of Old Town was the perfect setting. The cost per person was 60 pesos (plus a bottle of wine).
